On September 15, 16 and 17, several streets of the parish were filled with circus artists, with a new edition of the Chapéus na Rua- Lisbon Busking Festival. Jugglers, acrobats, clowns, puppets, live statues, and much more passed through Largo do Intendente Pina Manique, through the Mercado de Arroios and Mercado 31 de Janeiro, as well as the Mercado de Culturas. There was improvised poetry, dance, theater, music and many performances during the three days of the festival.
This festival aims to promote street art as a structural piece of urban artistic expression, breaking the paradigm of the street artist as a synonym for poverty art – bypassing the walls of museums, galleries and large show halls. The goal is to bring the public an art form that is above all human, upcoming and surprising.
