On Saturday, October 28, work began on the implementation of a “tyregrip” coating at the intersection of Avenida Almirante Reis with Rua de Angola and Rua Febo Moniz. This road work are based on an academic project called “YEARS”, which has the support of the Lisbon City Council, which aims to implement systems to reduce traffic speed in places with greater pedestrian traffic.
The tyregrip is a coating that better grips the tires of the cars during braking, in order to fulfill that goal. The Young European Acting for Road Safety (YEARS) project, funded by the European Commission and managed by the ETSC (European Transport Safety Council), aims to propose and carry out road work in order to improve road safety in European cities. The road work is scheduled to end on Sunday, November 19th.
