The swimming pool of Arroios is a sports infrastructure open to all of the the population, that promotes the practice of aquatic activities and provides pleasant moments of leisure while at the same time playing an important role in the development of the parish.
Inaugurated on April 16, 2016 after renovations, the Pool of Arroios presents great conditions for sports with a resistant and efficient fixed cover, a climate control system for controlling the temperature and humidity of the air as well as an efficient and autonomous heating sanitation system.
The pool has an average temperature of 29 degrees, six lanes and 25 meters in length, 12 meters and a half wide and one meter and 20 centimetres deep. There are three air-conditioned spas, one for women, one for men and one for children.
Activities range from swimming lessons for babies to regular swimming lessons for children and adults to water aerobics and hydrotherapy.
Throughout the sport season, thematic activities are carried out, such as water aerobic classes alluding to festive seasons such as Carnival, Easter and Christmas, swimming festivals and water polo games.
Adaptation to the aquatic environment of infants from the age of three months, while creating affective ties between parents and children through playful experiences. Classes last 30 minutes.
In the beginning of the adaptation to the aquatic environment, exercises of ludic character are used so that the child gains confidence and feels comfortable in the water. Students begin to learn alternate techniques and then introduce some notions of simultaneous techniques, by improving alternate techniques. With a duration of 45 minutes, three levels of learning are available, one of initiation and two of development of swimming techniques.
The adaptation to the aquatic environment is made with the initiation of alternating swimming techniques. At a more advanced level, it’s learned and made the improvement of the simultaneous swimming techniques, developing the ludic and social side of the modality. With a duration of 45 minutes, three levels of learning are available, one of initiation and two of development of swimming techniques.
Self-employed adults in the aquatic environment can do training or relaxation in the pool without the support of a teacher. On Saturday afternoons and Sundays in the morning, children can also attend the swimming pool in this way, provided they are accompanied by an adult.
Hydrotherapy classes are a physiotherapeutic resource that has been increasingly used in the medical field to achieve faster and better patient recovery. It treats orthopedic, vascular and respiratory dysfunctions, among others. The exercises are personalized and the lessons last 45 minutes.
A dynamic class with music that takes place inside the swimming pool and provides improvements in motor coordination and general physical condition. With a length of 45 minutes, two levels of learning are available.
Pre-registrations are made at any of the office branches of the Arroios Parish, by completing a registration form and submitting an identification document or equivalent (passport or resident’s card). If the application is for a minor, it’s requested the minor’s identification document and a responsible adult.
To complete the process, it is necessary to do an experimental lesson and make the registration in the pool office.
The payment of the monthly payments can be made directly in the swimming pool’s office or by bank transfer, and the IBAN must be requested for this purpose.
